Spanish Powerpoint

Context

I created this Powepoint presentation for my Literacy, Technology and Instruction class during the Fall semester of 2004.  Our assignment was to create a presentation that would promote literacy of some kind, while using a form of media.  My group focused on emerging Spanish literacy while using the popular game "Twister" as a learning tool.  We taught the Spanish words for red, yellow, green, blue, hand, foot, right, and left.

Impact

Even though I will not become a Spanish teacher, this assignment taught me how to create an effective presentation to use in my classroom.  Some people are impressed by all the special effects and sound effects they can use in Powerpoint, but the best presentations are simple.

Some students learn a new language best simply by hearing it; but some students need extra reinforcement like something visual.

Also the Twister activity described in this Powerpoint is a great way for children to interact with each other and with the teacher.

Alignment with NETS-T

6C. This presentation is a technology resource that affirms diversity.

Principle 9.  The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
