Artifact #10Microsoft Healthy Computing Guide Context I found this artifact while researching proper and ergonomic use of a computer in December of 2004. Impact Many students are never taught the healthiest and safest way to use a computer. I know that I didn't really learn many of these things until I was in college, and by that point I had hurt my wrist and back. Through studying this document, and the topics in it such as correct positioning, reducing low-impact forces, taking breaks, and overall good health, I can assist my students when we use the computer or other technology. Ergonomics are also really important in the world of music education. The quality of a student's sound can be affected adversely if the wrong posture or hand position is used. Even though this artifact primarily focuses on computer ergonomics, it can be an important resource as well when working with young musicians. Alignment with NETS-T 6D. Using this resource in my class will promote safe and healthy use of technology resources. Alignment with INTASC Principles Principle 3. The teacher understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners. Principle 9. The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
